GuitarVision is software for guitar players who want to sound exactly as the original musicians playing their favourite songs.
The main interface features a guitar neck in which the fingering and the notes played apperar. You can zoom into the neck if you want a closer view. Also, you can see the chord diagram and the lyrics of the song (if there are any). If you are a left-handed musician, you can switch to the left-handed view of the neck, thus avoiding the difficulties of other guitar software not containing this feature. At the beginning of every song, you can see and hear the tuning of it, so if it uses a non-standard tuning, you can tune your guitar accordingly. Also, you can control the tempo and volume of the song, the type of guitar sound you'll like to use, from a clean, nylon-stringed guitar to a heavily distorted one.
The basic software is free, and you can register for downloading free lessons. But if you really want to take advantage of every feature, you must purchase songs. Unfortunately, this service is currently discontinued due to the fact that GuitarVision has been acquired by another company. Also, note that support for GuitarVision users will be continued only until December, 2008.

I installed this program on my PC many years ago. It was a great learning tool. I purchased many songs, which were note-for-note accurate when compared to the original recordings. Then, one day, GuitarVision went out of business and shut down their servers. Now, none of my GVS song files are playable because their encryption keys no longer exist on the Internet. GuitarVision decided to take the money and run. What a shame.
